In the early 1970s, a small group of professional alpinists began to specialize in what was at the time a brand-new climbing discipline: ice climbing. Inspired by the first Scottish and American ascents, the sport spreads from the Pyrenees throughout the Alps. Almost 50 years later, global heating has also dramatically changed the winters in the Alps, also forcing ice climbers to adapt and change.
