“Big mountains, big glaciers – a constant up and down. And: great skiing!” This is how the Garmisch mountain guide Peter Albert describes the Tour Du Ciel. Depending on the route, the ski crossing from Zermatt to St. Niklaus takes four to seven days, leading over ragged glaciers and past some of the Alps’ largest, most impressive mountains. Though not as well-known as the adjacent Haute Route, the Tour Du Ciel easily measures up to it. For Peter Albert it is even the more appealing of the two, being more varied and wilder.
