When seven of the ski mountaineers froze to death and their guide lost his life through a fall, a mere 400 metres from the safety of the mountain hut, traumatised survivors and countless unanswered questions remained. The drama that unfolded on 29 April 2018 below the Pigne d’Arolla on the legendary ski touring Haute Route between Chamonix and Zermatt is the biggest accident of its kind in the Swiss Alps. Based on the survivors’ statements, photos, re-enactments and excerpts from the public prosecutors’ investigation report, this film reconstructs the dramatic events of this tour in an attempt to find answers.
