Beyond Everest

“You are young and athletic and I am old and athletic”. Thus says mountaineer and painter Marc Batard to his husband Dény. In the same breath, he proposes to climb Mount Everest to mark his 70th birthday. That would be the third time that Marc would stand on the roof of the world. The famous “Everest sprinter” sets out on a five-year long training regime and assembles a team. With us, he shares his experiences, talks about his life, the emotions that the prospect of conquering Everest yet again elicits in him, and his personal endeavour: to establish a new, safer route to the peak.
