The Dolomites are home to many pioneering women: women who live their lives as they see fit. Like the extreme ski mountaineer and climber Tamara Lunger, who has long since made a name for herself in the international alpine scene. Or the Englishwoman Amelia Edwards, who explored the region in 1872 and whose travel report represents a valuable historic record about the Dolomites. And Marlene and Elisabeth Schuen, with their band Ganes, are as much a part of these mountains as Silvia Summa, who was South Tyrol’s first registered mountain guide.
