Ancient glacial ice is a precious archive of inestimable value. The glacier on the wind-swept Weißseespitze in the Tyrolean Alps is unusual in that it does not flow: its exposed location keeps it firmly frozen firmly to the ground. Climate change has now triggered a race against time: An expedition sets off for the mountain’s summit to recover the up to 6000 year old ice and the air trapped within it. The Ice Memory project aims to find and analyse ancient ice throughout the world.
