Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner: Die Innere Dimension des Bergsteigens

Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner is the first woman in the world to have climbed all 14 peaks in the 8000-metre series without the use of supplementary oxygen and without porters. But there’s more to it for Gerlinde than achieving great goals, like conquering mountains against the odds. For her, physical exertion and endurance go hand in hand with the inner path, which she follows just as deliberately as she plans her expeditions. Die Innere Dimension des Bergsteigens (The Inner Dimension of Mountaineering) comprises the inspiring experiences of an exceptional alpinist. With gripping footage and photos, the professional mountaineer also takes us up the most challenging of the world’s highest mountains: K2. Starting out in 2011 on the mountain’s Chinese side as part of an international team, she reached the summit via the challenging and little-used northern pillar.

The lecture will last 115 minutes including a break.
After the lecture, there will be a book signing in the exhibition hall.
