A road movie about the search for one of Europe’s rarest butterflies: Nature filmmaker Jan Haft travels through Germany and Austria to Romania in search of Colias myrmidone – the Danube clouded yellow butterfly – in its very specific habitat. Large swathes of common grazing have become rare, existing today only in the highlands of Transylvania. Here, small herds of cattle, water buffalo and horses graze, maintaining a meadow landscape interspersed with copses and small woods: the habitat of an unimagined wealth of species, for which the Danube clouded yellow is emblematic.
