The effects of climate change are clearly visible on the Dachstein. The glaciers are receding. Old sketches, watercolours and photographs by Friedrich Simony and his contemporaries show the extent of this dramatic development. Their works, diaries and quotes form the basis of a cinematic journey into the past of the Dachstein’s glaciers, which peaked in size in 1855. The aesthetics of the historical images make the unique mountain world seem more doomed and fragile than ever.
