Two thousand police officers against two hundred tree occupiers in an ancient forest in the heart of Germany, which is slated to make way for a highway. The struggle against the construction of this highway has been ongoing for forty years on political and legal fronts, but now the state, on behalf of the federal government, has decided to enforce it – against all resistance. The drama surrounding the clearing of the Dannenröder Forest forms the backdrop of a film about the disappointed hopes of the younger generation for a better future. It revolves around their growing anger, the political ignorance in the face of the greatest crisis ever to befall humanity, and the seemingly indestructible power of capital interests over the professed intentions to build a sustainable future. Yet the resistance continues. As the activists say: “They try to bury us, but they forget that we are seeds.”
