The prospect of discovering an untouched landscape, leaving your tracks where no human has gone before, seems like an unfulfillable dream these days. Fortunately, away from the better-known mountains, there are still uncharted regions on the ski tour map of the Alps. Between Bernina and Ortler there lies a mountain range that doesn’t even have a proper name. There are only two small huts on the mountains around Piz Dosdé in Val Viola. Their two keepers are friends and have already toured together on eight-thousanders. And indeed, the tours in this area are as natural and light-hearted as the hospitality.
