In winter, the polar night shrouds Scandinavia in darkness, the sun barely visible for months on end. These are extreme conditions, and the lack of light affects all living organisms. Humans, animals and plants alike must find ways to cope with and find their way around in the dark. Our narrator, the actor Katja Riemann, guides us on this journey through northern Scandinavia, starting in absolute darkness on 21 December and ending with the appearance of the midnight sun in early summer.
