Faszination Europa – Majestätische Berge

Europe’s mountains are more than commanding landscapes – they are home to a fascinating and bizarre fauna. A golden eagle soars over the Alps, using its extraordinary eyesight to hunt for signs of life. Below it, male northern chamois race for the right to mate, leaving the defenceless kids at the mercy of the hunter’s razor-sharp talons. On the Rock of Gibraltar, barbary macaques all pitch in to help raise the young, though some macaques can get a little too ‘hands on’, kidnapping each other’s babies. Meanwhile, further south, a unique karst landscape hosts one of the planet’s strangest animals: the olm, a sightless amphibian that can live for more than 100 years. Norway’s musk oxen must brave temperatures of -30 degrees and face almost certain death if separated from the herd. With state-of-the-art camera technology and stunning cinematography, this film reveals a hidden and inaccessible world and opens our eyes to the wonder of European wildlife.
