Deachen is at home in Ladakh, a region situated in India’s north at 3500 metres above sea level. Together with her friends, the 15-year-old dreams of qualifying for the national women’s ice hockey team. But global warming means that lakes freeze over later each year. There are no skating rinks and time for training is running out. When the school holidays begin, Deachen can finally leave the capital for her high-altitude home and get back on the ice, hoping for the big opportunity that could change her entire life.
